Love Story

Philip and I originally met at Ross Point Camp.  Our mutual friends, Amanda and Korey were dating and hungout at the mall a lot.  Sometimes I would go along with Amanda and her twin sister Kat to the mall, and Philip would usually drive Korey.   My first impression:  "He's cute.  But he's so quiet."  Philip's first impression:  "WOW!"

Our Junior year of high school, Korey asked me to go to the prom with Philip.  Which, of course, I said yes to because that meant I got to wear my prom dress twice!  Phil called to ask my dad if he could take me.  Philip, "If he doesn't call me back by 9 o clock can I go to bed?"  Me, "My dad's hands are so big they could crush your face."

At the prom we didn't do much dancing but we did a lot of talking, instead.  We spent the next day getting to know eachother in Tekoa:  walking Philip's dogs, watching "Happy Feet" (Philip slept through it), shooting hoops, and going to church and youth group together.  We didn't want the night to end so we sat in the parking lot of a Burger King, and talked (Just talked I promise!  We were so nervous we could barely make eye-contact) until 2 AM.  Amazingly, Philip survived this (despite my huge, protective dad).

Philip started calling me every night.  He would come up with reasons he needed to call me, until I finally said, "What's your excuse for calling me tomorrow?" He said, "How about I call you because I like talking to you."

On April 13th 2007, at a Ross Point Camp retreat Philip asked me out with a note that said, "Roses are red, violets are blue, will you go out with me cuz I really like you," written in crayon, no less.  I said yes to him one full day later, on April 14th.

We dated for four long, precious years.  Then Philip bought the perfect diamond ring, got down on one knee, and said, "I'm ready to love you through the good and the bad. I want to honor God with you for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?" I said, "YES!" We became husband and wife July 15, 2011.  Stay tuned to watch us process through this exciting stage!
